Library Happenings

The library is excited to welcome our new Technology Assistant Derek Verveer!

Derek will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays to assist with various issues, whether you are having trouble downloading our free eBooks, are confused by your new tablet, or are looking to setup a new email account. Derek has a background in web design, technical assistance, and customer service, and is excited to help out those who are looking to improve their technological competencies! To meet with Derek one-on-one, please contact the library to setup an appointment.

Saturday's planned event with Elizabeth Gillott, Tillsonburg native and author of The Land of TRIANGLES, has been cancelled.

Saturday's 'Family Flick' at 1 p.m. is a film centering on children living in pre-World War II Czechoslovakia, a moving account of the Holocaust based on a 2002 book by Karen Levine. This movie is rated PG and runs 88 minutes.

The Tillsonburg Country Christmas Festival will be kicking off soon, and the library is excited to take part! We will be hosting “Seasons of Celebrations Storytimes” on Thursday evenings from November 20 through December 18. Each themed storytime will feature a special “celebrity” guest reader from the community, and will be followed by a craft. Join us to celebrate stories about Diwali on Thursday, November 20 at 7 p.m. This is a free, drop-in event for families with children up to age 10. Hope to see you there!

Don’t forget that this Thursday, November 6 at 7 pm, Stephen Bourne will be here to discuss the fascinating theories behind the cold case of Richard III. This presentation will focus on the discovery of the king’s remains, as well as examine the case of the murdered princes in the tower. An intriguing “whodunnit” presentation, mystery and history lovers won’t want to miss! Spaces are filling up quickly, so reserve yours soon by phoning the library at 519-842-5571.

Reminder: the library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 in honour of Remembrance Day. For a listing of all of the library’s events check out our website at ocl.net today.
