Kirwin and Oatman, Domino's Hounds go up by two

Playoffs in both Tillsonburg slo-pitch leagues are in full swing. The ladies commenced Round 2 last week.

Congrats to Ace Cleaning who finished third in Ladies Masters Intermediate in SPN Provincials over the weekend in Niagara Falls.

It's been interesting to see that A.L.S. Ice Bucket Challenge is making its way through Tillsonburg.

Ladies A

Fifth place ServiceMaster pulled off a mild upset sweeping fourth place Jays two straight, advancing to the semifinals against first place Great Lakes Physio-Corey's.

Orange Crush swept sixth place EMI Steelerz wrapping it up in the final game against a short-handed EMI. They will face Eichenberg's Dodge Girls in the other semi.

Ladies A Semifinals

Great Lakes Physio-Corey's moved out to a quick six-run lead against ServiceMaster in Game 1, but needed two late runs to tie it before winning 9-8 in walkoff fashion.

Orange Crush took over the lead in the fifth and added an insurance run in the seventh to take the semifinal lid lifter 7-5 against Eichenberg's.

Great Lakes-Corey's Kasey McKenzie sped home with the game's winning run in the the seventh. Hillary Stoop had a bases clearing triple and a run-scoring triple for the winners.

Eichenberg: Kate Hahn 2-3, Stacy Harris 2-3

Leadoff batter Nicole Harris had a pair of extra base hits and two singles, and Jen Hiller scored two runs for Orange.

Ladies B

Energy Productions staved off elimination with a ninth inning win over Ritchie's. Their third and deciding game was played Monday with the winner facing first place Hollister KIA.

Focus swept its series with Camo and face Challengers in the other semifinals.

Haines Roofing are one game away from sweeping Robert Q Travel. IC Waters upset third place Maple View Variety in their opener. Gators won a low-scoring affair over Survivors, while Game 1 between Roosters and Woodland RV was rained out.

Scott Carruthers had a run-scoring triple for Gators in the first which ended up being the only two runs they needed in the win.

Men's B

Kirwin and Oatman are one game away from sweeping second place DeGroote-Hill. They mercied them in the opener and came from behind to tie it and walked it off in the eighth to take Game 2.

Bill's Pizza Kekambas are also two games up on Next Realty after a close 7-5 victory on Friday night.

Domino's Hounds have had little trouble and are poised for a sweep after 11 and 12-run victories in Games 1 and 2.

Ontario Laser Spartans scored a plethora of runs in the eighth in their opener with GC Lounsbury. GC took advantage of a short-handed Spartans squad mercying them in Game 2 to even the series.

Destroyers tied their series with Corey's Restaurant winning in walkoff fashion in Game 2. Corey's had won the first game by seven.

Ward's Automotive won by four in Game 1 over Stickmen.

John Beere rallied late in an upset win over third place Delhi Dodgers. Delhi evened the series winning the second game by forfeit.
