Rib-tastic Rib Fest

Article content

The first Tillsonburg Rib Fest, organized by Geordie and Mel Dagg, was held on the weekend. Four rib vendors, including three from London, sold ribs, barbecued chicken and more, Friday through Sunday at Memorial Park.

In addidition to live entertainment under the pavilion, there were several vendors/booths on location July 18-20.

In an unofficial poll of Tillsonburg News reporters, after sampling half-racks from Rib Royale and Jack the Ribber Saturday afternoon and half-racks from Kelsey's and Railroad Ribs Sunday night, it was decided the best-tasting ribs were cooked by... Rib Royale. Easily the tenderest of the four, tangy and smoky.

Unofficially, second place runner-up was Kelsey's Tillsonburg serving up traditional-tasting ribs and a unique apple butter flavour (the reporter declined apple butter) along with fresh-cooked fries and drink to match the other vendors' $13 half-racks.
