The Slo-Pitch All-Star Night is fast approaching! The Tillsonburg Men's Slo-Pitch executive made their selections last week and now are just waiting for confirmation from those selected.

All the men's and ladies teams will be announced in my column next week!

Both the men's and ladies divisions have some exciting races going on. The largest lead is in the Ladies A where Great Lakes/Corey's have a four-point lead on Eichenberg's. (Eich has one result that has not been submitted yet.)

We hit the first day summer Saturday which means there is just over one month left in the regular season. Wow!

Ladies A

The Jays have been on a roll lately unlike the American League version (lol). They won easily over Camo and won a rain-shortened game against EMI.

ServiceMaster broke up a close game with a win over Hollister KIA. They also mercied Energy Productions.

Great Lakes Physio/Corey's Restaurant recorded mercies over Focus and Challengers, and beat Ritchie's by eight. Eichenberg also had an easy victory over Ritchie's. Great Lakes' Tracey Pressey had eight extra base hits in the three wins.

Great Lakes/Corey's 18, Focus 3

Great Lakes: Christine Gubesch 4-4, Tracey Pressey 4-4

Focus: Greta Styve 2-3, Cheryl Wilson 2-2

Leadoff batter Christine Gubesch reached and scored all four times for the winners.

Jays 18, Camo 4

Jays: Jess Grundy 6-6, Mary Froese 4-5

Camo: Krystal Sivyer 2-3, Pat Danchak 2-2

Sonya Foreman and Nicki Shewan each scored three runs for the Jays.

Great Lakes 20, Challengers 5

Great Lakes Physio/Corey's Restaurant: Tracey Pressey 5-5, Kasey Mckenzie 4-4

Challengers: Lisa Teichroeb 3-3, Tina Wall 3-3

Tracey Pressey led the winners with a pair of triples. Jill Whiteside, Hillary Stoop and Kasey Mckenzie each had one.

Eichenberg's 20, Ritchie's 5

Eichenberg: Tena Bueckert 4-4, Stacey Harris 3-3

Ritchie's: Karen Horvath 2-2, Ali Vankerrebroeck 2-2

Eichenberg plated seven runs in the first and fourth innings.

ServiceMaster 8, Hollister KIA 2

ServiceMaster: Kayla Bond 4-5, Becky Abbott 3-4

Hollister KIA: Becky Ford 2-2, Patty Wye 2-2

ServiceMaster put this one away with a six-run seventh bat-around inning.

ServiceMaster 19, Energy Productions 4

ServiceMaster: Kerry Jensen 3-3, Kayla Bond 4-4

Energy: Christine Demarest 2-2, Bri Johnston 2-2

Kayla Bond was a true leadoff batter reaching and scoring in all four plate appearances.

Great Lakes/Corey's 14, Ritchie's 6

Great Lakes Physio/Corey's Restaurant: Tracey Pressey 4-4 HR, Janet Culliton 3-3

Ritchie's: Aimee Sparzynski 3-3, Ali Vankerrebroeck 3-4

Tracey Pressey led the winners with a homer, three doubles and three runs scored.

Jays 10, EMI Steelerz 6

Jays: Amy Beattie 3-3, Melissa Hughes 3-3, Jessica Faulk HR

EMI: Jordan Coderre 3-3, Alana Haskett 1-2

Jays plated seven in a bat-around fifth.

 

Ladies B

The Challengers upset the A Division's second-place Orange Crush in a real thriller, 25-23, for their first win against Orange.

Hollister KIA played to a 6-6 tie with A Division's EMI Steelerz with both teams plating three in the seventh inning.

Hollister KIA 6, EMI 6

Hollister KIA: Jen Lee 3-4, Mandy Kromplak 3-4

EMI Steelerz: Rhonda Mayo 2-3, Shannon Collings 2-3

Andrea Holden had the tying RBI for KIA. Tracey Coderre did the same for EMI.

 

Men's A

Haines Roofing won four last week scoring 25 plus runs in three of their four victories. Their fourth was a two-run decision over Gators. Dave Phillips homered in all four of Haines' victories.

Survivors won a couple of close ones over a short-handed IC Waters roster.

Haines Roofing 25, Robert Q Travel 19

Haines Roofing: Steve Balazs 5-5, Layne Hudson 4-4, Dave Phillips HR

Robert Q: Joe Highley 6-6, Josh Stubbs 4-5, Bryan DeBlaire HR

Dave Phillips homered, tripled and drove in four for Haines.

Survivors 16, IC Waters 12

Survivors: Diedrich Klassen 4-4, Jake Enns 4-4

IC Waters: Mike Shewan 4-5 2 HRs, Eric Lockey 2-3, Steve Leacock HR, Jeff Cadotte HR

Survivors scored four late runs to overtake the short-handed IC Waters squad.

Survivors 23, IC Waters 22

Survivors: Jake Klassen 5-5, Henry Klassen 4-5, Diedrich Klassen HR, Peter Klassen 2 HRs

IC Waters: Mike Shewan 6-6 HR, Shawn Crane 4-4, Jeff Cadotte HR, Steve Voth HR, Steve Leacock HR

Peter Klassen's one-out grand slam won it for Survivors.

Haines Roofing 28, Roosters 8

Haines Roofing: Craig Smith 4-4, Adam Thomson 4-4, Kevin Harrop HR, Dave Phillips 2 HRs, Shawn Finch 2 HRs, Phil Durham 2 HRs

Roosters: Greg Buchner 3-3, Derek Buchner 3-3, Mark Hamulecki HR

Haines hit their home run limit by the fourth. Shawn Finch had a pair of three-run shots.

Haines Roofing 20, Survivors 7

Haines Roofing: Dan Clark 2-2 2 HRs, Trevor Oakes 3-4, Dave Phillips HR, Phil Durham 2 HRs

Survivors: Jake Klassen 2-3 HR, Jake Enns 2-3 HR, Martin Klassen HR

Haines made the outcome decisive after Phil Durham's three-run homer in their seven-run fifth.

Haines Roofing 13, Gators 11

Haines Roofing: Trevor Oakes 4-4 HR, Tyler Lamb 3-3, Shawn Finch HR, Dave Phillips HR

Gators: Tyler Phillips 3-3, James Nunn 3-3, Darryl Vandendriessche HR, Jon Nunn HR

Leadoff batter Trevor Oakes was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and scored four runs for the winners.

 

Men's B

Football anyone?

DeGroote-Hill and Broadway Lanes Bears each scored 40-plus runs in victories over C's John Beere and Destroyers respectively. Both games were close till the seventh when DeGroote-Hill plated 25, while Bears crossed 22 times.

Ontario Laser Spartans also beat the Destroyers, while Bill's Pizza Kekambas won the Battle of the Smith Brothers beating Ward's by 14.

Ontario Laser plated seven in the sixth in a come-from-behind victory. Abe Krahn hit a homer in the rally, his second of the game.

John Beere: Bryan Granger 4-6 HR, Kevin Stuyt 4-6 3 HRs.

DeGroote-Hill sent 27 batters to the plate in their 25-run seventh against short-staffed John Beere.

Bill's Pizza 22, Ward's 8

Bill's Pizza Kekambas: Benson Howey 4-4, Brandon Rohrer HR, Cody Furlong 4-4 HR, Kyle Hollister HR

Ward's Automotive: Evan Curtis 3-3, Brett Parsons 3-4

Cody Furlong had a homer, double and scored three runs for the winners.

Broadway Lanes 44, Destroyers 18

Broadway Lanes Bears: Jay Seitz 6-7, Andy Lockstein 7-7, Derek Harnish 2 HRs, Brent O'Brien HR, Jess Legg 2 HRs

Destroyers: Mark Pressey 4-5, Kody Underhill 4-6, Kevin Alward HR

Broadway Lanes' offence erupted for 22 runs in the seventh breaking up a close game with Destroyers.

Men's C

Cain's Pelicans upset B's Domino's Hounds, beating them by six.

Delhi Dodgers also knocked off a B foe winning by eight over Next Realty.

Cain's 11, Domino's 5

Cain's Pelicans: Mike Kamenar 2-2, Kurt Vaughan 2-3

Domino's Hounds: Chris Brittain 3-3, Josh Kingsbury 3-3

Mike Kamenar led the winners with a double and triple.

Delhi Dodgers 14, Next Realty 6

Delhi: Dustin Pettit 3-4, Garrett Roelens 3-4 2 HRs

Next Realty: Jason Nesbitt 3-3 HR, Rob Derks 2-3

Garrett Roelens homered in consecutive at-bats for Delhi.
