Stop sign stolen

Norfolk OPP is investigating the theft of a stop sign from a 1st Concession Road, Houghton address following a call from a concerned resident.
The call came in at approximately 8:18 p.m. Sunday, May 4, reporting a stop sign had been removed from the intersection of 1st Concession Road and Fairground Road.
Norfolk OPP state that street sign theft is often costly, inconvenient and can be extremely dangerous to the motoring public. What some consider a prank, ultimately for decorative purposes, can cause a potentially fatal collision.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Driver over the legal limit
A 37-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with Driving Over The Legal Limit.
The charge came as a result of a traffic stop along Easter Quarter Line, North Walsingham just before 11 p.m. Saturday, May 3 after a vehicle attracted an officer’s attention, while on patrol. Subsequent investigation led to the charge.
The male is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer the charge.
Sweaburg targeted
Oxford County OPP is investigating a rash of vehicle entries, thefts and mischief throughout the Village of Sweaburg over the weekend.
Overnight on Friday, May 2 and into the early morning hours of Saturday, May 3, unknown suspects created a path of mischief, break-ins and thefts to several area residences and vehicles. The streets targeted included Chele Mark Crescent, Lisas Drive and Glenn Avenue in Sweaburg. Several vehicles were the target of mischief with graffiti written on them and in one incident, a large bench was placed on top of a parked vehicle causing damage to the paint.
Items taken from vehicles included cash, wallet, CDs, and a Sony radio. Some items that were removed were smashed and destroyed in the neighbourhood.
During police canvass, a group of five mailboxes were discovered knocked over in front of a residence on Glenn Avenue.
OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for these incidents. If any residents in Sweaburg have video surveillance on their property, police are asking them to check out the footage during that time frame and contact them if anything of interest was captured.
