'Lego Fest' at library
Article content
Tillsonburg Library’s first-ever Lego Fest is happening on Friday, December 20.
There are two components to this fun program. First, the Lego Creation Contest: build something with Lego that is either a) a building, or a) an animal, and bring it in any time on Thursday Dec. 19 for judging.
The winner of each category will be announced and presented with a prize during the Friday program.
Also on Friday, join us for the ‘Iron Chef-style’ building competitions. Contestants are given two minutes to build something on a specific theme. The winner from each round will square off in a final round.
Kids can also get to try out our new Lego Mindstorm, a cool robot made of Lego. Lego Fest is for children ages six to 12 and registration is required, so call the library to reserve a spot!
The fun begins at 1 p.m. and runs through until 3 p.m.
Come one, come all to “have a ball” on Monday, December 30! In preparation for the Tillsonburg Christmas Festival’s New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, the library will be hosting a decorating bash, where participants have the opportunity to personalize their golf balls. Stop in between 6 and 8 p.m. to our program room and get crafty. Balls and decorating supplies will be provided.
Just a reminder that our CAP Student, Symone is available to help you with your technology needs. Whether you have an eReader, a laptop, or another hand-held gadget that has you confused, Symone can provide you with technical expertise and give you troubleshooting tips. She is available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 4:30-8:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Phone the library to set-up your appointment!
New items are arriving weekly at the library. Tom Clancy’s final book, Command Authority has arrived, and there are a number of copies in our Seven Day Quick Pick section. For those who might be especially busy around the holidays and don’t feel a Quick Pick is for them, three-week loan copies are also available. Fans of Lawrence Hill, award-winning author of The Book of Negroes, may want to check-out in his most recent book, which is based on his CBC Massey Lecture and titled Blood: The Stuff of Life.
For those interested in something a little darker, Dean Koontz’s newest title, Innocence, just hit the shelves. For additional reading suggestions, visit the library’s website and check-out our Quick Links section, where you can sign-up to receive emails with suggestions based on your reading preferences!
And finally, the library’s holiday hours are as follows:
December 24: Closed at 2 p.m.
December 25-26: Closed.
December 31: Closed at 2 p.m.
January 1: Closed.
All other days we will be open during our regular hours.
Happy holidays from the library!
