Tillsonburg Ringette's Nichols Gravel U14s travelled to London Nov. 8-10 for their first tournament of the season.
Nichols Gravel came out strong in the first half against London-1, leading 5-1. Tapering off a bit in the second half, the Twisters finished strong winning 6-4.
Having lost earlier in the season to their second opponent, the Twisters were a bit tentative losing 5-1 to a strong Forest team. But Tillsonburg bounced back in Game 3 against London-2. Tied 2-2 in the first half, the Twisters played hard in the second to win 7-3.
Second after the preliminary round, the Twisters moved on to the semifinals against London-1 and held strong throughout the game to win 4-1, setting up a gold medal rematch with Forest.
For the first time this season Tillsonburg took the lead against Forest scoring six minutes into a see-saw game. Forest tied it up early in the second period, then went up 2-1 five minutes later. Tillsonburg replied with back-to-back goals to take a 3-2 lead. Tied 3-3 at the buzzer, they went into a 15-minute overtime period. Three minutes into OT Forest managed to slip in the final goal to win 4-3.
Tillsonburg's defence – Justine Lemaich, Sierra Nutley, Alyssa Parsons and Emma Dew - did a great job, played a strong triangle and did well getting the ring to the forwards. Goalie Savannah Baker was strong in net.
