A new group is working hard to bring back Tillsonburg Youth Basketball.
“Mike Bossy, who helped run it for years, myself, Natalie Hunter, Jesse Goossens and Dan Dube are trying to revive the program,” said Lance MacKenzie, a former youth basketball participant 'back in the day.' “It goes way back.”
Their first TYB registration was held last Saturday, and the second registration is this coming Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Tillsonburg Community Centre. Registration is $80 and will include a T-shirt and basketball.
The 2013-14 season will consist of 12 basketball Sundays beginning in November.
“It starts November 10th, runs until December 15th, breaks for Christmas holidays, comes back January 7th, and ends in the middle of February.”
Games will be played at Annandale School and Glendale High School between 12-5 p.m., depending on how many register in each division. Ages are 6 to 13 year olds.
They also need coaches and will recruit from interested parents.
“We're still getting the word out,” said MacKenzie, hoping for better numbers at the second registration this Saturday.
