Eagle Events - Sacred Heart School in Langton

Article content

Hello and welcome to another Eagle Events column from Dharma and Alexander.

Today we’ve got some exciting new from around our community. On Thursday, October 10th, we assembled this year’s Mission and Stewardship Clubs involving Grade 4-8 students. The goal of the Mission Club is to help the needy in various ways through fundraisers and food collections in the school. The Stewardship Club is responsible for keeping the school gardens and flower beds neat and free of weeds.

This past week was great for all of us here at Sacred Heart. We received two days off from school. On October 6th, students had the opportunity to attend Norfolk County Fair in Simcoe. This year’s Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show sure was a blast, being the biggest fair in all of Norfolk County. It was jam packed with events like tractor pulls, the car derby, cheerleading contests, science presentation, a road race, a tug of war and the flavour fest. There were many different foods, games and rides for people of all ages to participate in and a performance on Saturday night by Carly Rea Jepson. It’s just too bad it all had to pack up on Thanksgiving Day.

On October 11th, staff had a P.A. Day and on Monday we will had another day off to celebrate Thanksgiving. Father Slawek will be celebrating a Thanksgiving mass for the students and staff at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 18th.

Also happening at our school that day is a one-night only pre-screening of Despicable Me 2 presented by Demaiter Real Estate and the School Council. Admission will be $3 for adults and $2 for children. It will be held on Friday, October the 18th at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart School’s gym, (26 Albert St., Langton) and snacks will be available for purchase. Everyone is invited to come to the movies at Sacred Heart School!
