The 18th annual Long Point Region Memorial Forest Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m.

This year’s memorial planting and dedication service will pay tribute to the lives of more than 175 individuals who passed away between Sept. 1, 2012 and Aug. 31, 2013.

“The Long Point Region Memorial Forest is a special forest growing at the entrance to Backus Heritage Conservation Area. It is not only a wonderful way to remember the life of a family member, friend or colleague who has passed away, but also assures a better environment for years to come,” said Long Point Region Conservation Authority Chairman Roger Geysens in a media release.

“A tranquil outdoor setting with musical accompaniment provides the atmosphere for this informal service. I encourage family and friends to attend the dedication service and to bring their own lawn chairs to view the proceedings,” said Geysens.

The Long Point Region Memorial Forest is located 2 km north of Port Rowan at the entrance to Backus Heritage Conservation Area.
