Hot, humid at The Bridges - Bunker to Bunker

Article content

A hot and humid day brought out 17 lady golfers on Tuesday, August 27 at The Bridges.

Nine 9-hole ladies played the back nine for putts. Mae Moffat and Lillian McCune placed first with 16 putts each. Bryden Sinden, Catherine Burke and Mary Wiltshire all tied for second with 18 putts. If there had been a prize for the most lost balls it would have been a tight race. Regardless, we always enjoy the back nine and keep going back for more.

Eight 18-hole ladies vied for low net. In Flight A, Phyl Lawrence finished first and Stella Black was second. In Flight B, Lil Neale was first and Wendy Coward second.

There were four birdies - Devona Allin on Hole 1, Wendy Coward on 5, Mandy Mawhiney on 13, and Lil Neale on 18.

Club Championship weekend kicks off Saturday morning with the men teeing off at 8 a.m. The ladies will join the men on Sunday and Monday and there will be skins up for grabs Sunday and Monday. There's a pig roast on Saturday night, brunch on Sunday morning, and a windup dinner and trophy presentation Monday evening.

If the weather co-operates, it should be a great weekend at The Bridges. We'll have a full report of the results next week.

See you on the greens.
