Blue moon?

The modern understanding of a blue moon may have come to be a second full moon in a month. But by the classic criteria of the third full moon of a season, or period between a solstice and equinox (or vice versa), last evening’s (August 21, the third full moon between the June, 2013 solstice and September, 2013 equinox) incarnation was a particularly glorious and colourful example. It rose with a golden, rather than blue hue, maintaining its majestic brilliance throughout the evening and into the early morning hours. Jeff Tribe/Tillsonburg News
