Following an Environment Canada humidex advisory for Oxford County and surrounding areas, Oxford County Public Health is extending a heat alert for the remainder of the week.
Humidex values in the low 40s are expected for the next several days with cooler and drier air coming late in the week.
Public Health issues a heat alert when there is a humidex of 40 or higher (humidity and temperature combined make the temperature feel like 40° Celsius); or, if the humidex is 36 or higher and there is a smog alert; or, when there is a forecast for temperatures of 35° Celsius or above for three consecutive days (with or without a humidex reading).
