June 25
MSC’s 35th Anniversary Gala at the Tillsonburg Community Centre. MSC will be celebrating 35 years, recognizing a legacy of voluntarism and more. Following the annual meeting, there will be a 6 p.m. social and silent auction. Opening remarks at 7 p.m. will include comments by John Armstrong, former Mayor of Tillsonburg (and first Board chair of MSC). Guest speaker is Cheryl Pounder, two-time Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist in Women’s Hockey, provided via the Royal Bank’s “Our Legacy of Support” program. Silent auction closes at 8:30. Catered by Chrissy’s Catering. All proceeds from silent auction will support MSC community programs.

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's Coronation (1953-2013) with a Coronation Tea at St. John's Anglican Church on Ridout St. W. A traditional cream tea will be served from 1-3 p.m. featuring an exclusive blend of tea created by Fortnum & Mason to commemorate this historic anniversary. All are welcome. Hats and gloves are optional, but appropriate. Tickets at the door: $6.
Spaghetti Supper, hosted by the Oxford Trail Riders Youth Team, at the Brownsville Hall from 5-8 p.m. Enjoy a delicious meal while supporting Oxford Trail Riders as they make their journey to the Ontario Saddle Club Youth Team Tournament in Paris, Ont. There will be an appetizer, spaghetti with the option of a vegetarian sauce, and a yummy dessert. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 kids 5-under. For tickets call Nikki Chesterman at 519-983-3637.
Poetry on the Lawn – come join us for our poetry nights at Annandale National Historic Site and enjoy the works of some of the world’s most famous poets. Hosted in conjunction with the Tillsonburg Public Library. Poetry on the Lawn begins at 7 p.m. each Wednesday night. Please bring a lawn chair and blankets. Light refreshments provided.

The next meeting of the Community Probus Club of Tillsonburg, which meets the 4th Wednesday of every month, is June 26 at 10 a.m. at the Tillsonburg Community Centre. Our guest speaker will be Mary Gladwin from the Oxford County Archives, speaking about saving Oxford County's history. Sam Lamb’s Tillsonburg Citizen of the Year celebration is Thursday, June 27 in the Lions Auditorium at the Tillsonburg Community Centre. Everyone is welcome to join Sam, his family and friends at a 6 p.m. reception, followed by a formal presentation program beginning at 7 p.m. The town’s Citizen of the Year Award is presented annually by the Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce.

The Royal Canadian Legion in Tillsonburg invites you to a Ham and Scalloped Potato Supper on Friday, July 5. Serving from 5 p.m. as quantities last. $12 adult and $6 preteen includes dessert. Take out available. Cash bar and wheelchair lift. The canteen will remain open till 11 p.m. with entertainment by singer Mike Thorpe. Everybody is always welcome "down at the Legion" at 17 Durham Street. We also welcome Legion Officers to the District Convention July 5-6.

Norfolk Field Naturalists present Long Point Butterfly Count, an all-day event similar to a Christmas Bird Count, involving identifying and counting local butterflies. Join one of our ‘winged jewels’ experts, and help tabulate the species and numbers of butterflies in Long Point and surrounding area - part of the North America-wide annual count. 4th Annual Butterfly and Dragonfly Festival returns to Backus Heritage Conservation Area near Port Rowan. A family-friendly event organized by Nature’s Calling Environmental Education. Highlights include guided butterfly identification walks, pond dipping and pond walks, kids crafts, face painting, and the ever-popular Spread Your Wings Parade (kids dress up as butterflies). The festival runs Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the park is $13 per carload.
St. Williams Brunch on Sunday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Williams Community Centre. All you can eat. Sponsored by the St. Williams Lions Club. Adults $7, children under-12 $3, children under-5 free.

The Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Volunteer Association is having a fundraiser in partnership with Tillsonburg Custom Foods (20 Vance Drive). For every four-kilogram case of chicken breast sold, TCF will donate $5 to the Volunteer Association. Proceeds will go towards purchase of ElectroCardiograph machine and Defibrillators. The fundraiser runs through until the end of August.
