The countdown is on: only 15 more school days!

As the end of the school year approaches, students are getting excited for each of their Class Trips!! Grade 8 students had a great time on their trip to Camp Queen Elizabeth. They had four days filled with hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and much more on Beausoleil Island (Georgian Bay).

On June 11, the Grade 6 classes had fun on their field trip to The Ontario Police College and to Circle R Ranch.

And on June 18, Grade 7 students will be heading to Long Point Eco-Adventures where they will brave a Canopy Walk and participate in Leadership Games. I hope no one is scared of heights!

Yearbooks will be available in the last week of June and report cards will go home on the last day of school, June 27!

Please remember to return ALL library books to school no later than June 17.

Just a reminder that the last day for food services will be on June 20, and the last freezie day will be on June 21.

The Grade 8 grads will enjoy a yummy breakfast at the Mill on Friday, June 21, followed by a Graduation Awards and Dance at the Legion Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. We would like to congratulate all of the Grade 8 Grads! This is your year, as you move on to High School everything will change; before you know it you will be getting your license and going to prom, but you can always look back and remember all the good times you had with your friends at Monsignor O'Neil.

Six of Monsignor O'Neil School's students are getting published! After entering the Young Writers contest through the Poetry Institute of Canada, six Grade 5 students in Mr. Good's class received letters back that their stories qualified to get published in an anthology entitled "Cloud Castles." In addition, each of these students receive certificates and prizes. Congratulations, Knights!

As we wrap up this year, let’s take a minute to say thank you to our Teachers, Ms. Vanderhyden, and Mrs. Barlow, as well as all of Monsignor O'Neil staff: individually and together they all make a difference in our lives.

Whether it is your teacher taking the time to help you understand something you just didn't understand, or helping you through a bad day, our Teachers are always there when we need them.

Mrs. Barlow is always greeting us with a big smile and making our day a little brighter. We are lucky to have our Principal, Ms. Vanderhyden, because she cares about all of the students and is always available for whatever we need, and she will work hard to make sure we are all happy.

The whole team at Monsignor O'Neil is important; together they keep our school clean, organized, safe, and enjoyable to be at every day and they all do it with a smile on their faces.

Don't forget to take a moment to say 'thank you' and 'have a great summer' before the end of the year!!
