JUNE

June 7-8

Tillsonburg's 12th annual Relay for Life, 7 p.m. - 7 a.m., at Annandale School. Join the biggest cancer event to make the biggest difference.

June 8

St. Joe’s Catholic School (31 Frances St.) Fun Fair, from 1-10 p.m. Spiderman, Cookie Monster, Tinkerbell, haunted house, bouncy house, outdoor movie (Peter Pan showing at 8 p.m.), and much, much more. Everyone welcome!

Second Annual Family Fun Day at Mt. Elgin Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. Birds of Prey show at 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Wilson’s Magic Dynasty at 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Bouncy castle, face painting, bubble centre, three-in-one sport inflatable, tattoo parlour, Oxford EMS, Oxford OPP. All ages welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult. Free hot dog lunch and refreshments.

Junior Golfers aged 5-15 are invited to a free driving range, mini golf and batting cage event at Tim Aimers Golf Academy & Driving Range from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free draw for The Bridges membership and Aimers membership. Sponsored by Kevin and Shane Cassidy Annual Golf Tournament.

The Lynedoch Community Group will be hosting its 16th Annual Garden Tour, featuring eight gardens and two separate cemetery tours. Ticket booth located in the country market square beside the Lynedoch United Church. Opening ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. in the market square. Local vendors displaying and selling everything from ironworks to crafts, jewelry, rock art, books and garden flags. BBQ lunch available, along with ‘Musicale Under The Tent’ featuring Kolton Stewart. The Norfolk County Quilters Guild will be displaying inside the church.

June 12

Strawberry Social at the Brownsville Community Centre, serving from 5-7 p.m. Cost $8, 6-12 $3.50, under five free. All-you-wish to enjoy strawberries, cream, bread and cake. Tickets available at the door, or by calling 519-877-9024.

June 13

Come join Bayham Historical Society at its annual Pot Luck Picnic beginning at 6 p.m. at the Edison Museum in Vienna.

June 14

The Haldimand-Norfolk PC Association is presenting its second annual golf tournament. The Toby Tee-Off will be at Stark’s Golf Course in Port Rowan. Cost is $75 for nine holes and a steak dinner. For more information, phone 519-983-3947.

Third Annual Tillsonburg Turtlefest. Ontario’s ‘best turtle festival’ is now two days, featuring a downtown block party on Friday with street games, music and dance performances starting at 5 p.m. Look for all-day family fun on Saturday with live entertainment – country and folk music, and dance performances – as well as turtle games, an education centre and rides, creative crafts, turtle alley vendors, water events at Lake Lisgar… and lots of live turtles!

June 15

First Baptist Weekday Nursery friends and families, past and present, are invited to a Farewell Open House from 1-4 p.m. at First Baptist Church. A presentation will take place at 3:30 p.m.

Eden & Area Community Centre presents a Pulled Pork Supper from 5-7 p.m. at the community centre. Advance tickets for adults are $12, at the door - $15. Tickets for children 10-and-under are $5. Tickets may be purchased from members, at the Eden Store or by calling 519-866-3664.

Teeterville Pioneer Museum annual Hillbilly Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Terrific deals on gently-used household wares, books, toys, furniture and small appliances. Also enjoy the Strawberries & Cream Social from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission $5 for adults and $2.50 for children.

Burford Tractor Club meeting at Fairfield Church Hall at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker, everyone welcome.

Decoration Day for the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Walsingham at 2 p.m. In the event of rain, service will be held inside Walsingham United Church. Everyone welcome.

June 26

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's Coronation (1953-2013) with a Coronation Tea at St. John's Anglican Church on Ridout St. W. A traditional cream tea will be served from 1-3 p.m. featuring an exclusive blend of tea created by Fortnum & Mason to commemorate this historic anniversary. All are welcome. Hats and gloves are optional, but appropriate. Tickets at the door: $6.

The Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Volunteer Association is having a fundraiser in partnership with Tillsonburg Custom Foods (20 Vance Drive). For every four-kilogram case of chicken breast sold, TCF will donate $5 to the Volunteer Association. Proceeds will go towards purchase of ElectroCardiograph machine and Defibrillators. The fundraiser runs through until the end of August.

Norfolk Field Naturalists present Long Point Butterfly Count, an all-day event similar to a Christmas Bird Count involving identifying and counting local butterflies. Join one of our ‘winged jewels’ experts, and help tabulate the species and numbers of butterflies in Long Point and surrounding area - part of the North America-wide annual count.
