Family, friends and community support have helped make a planned mission trip to Nepal a reality.

18-year old high school student Bobby Neudorf, recently participated in his first marathon – a 42 kilometer run from Frogmore to Port Royal and back, completing the run in 4 hours, with no breaks or stops along the way.

“It didn’t really sink in, what I accomplished because I was in so much pain for the last 10 kilometers,” said Neudorf. “It felt pretty awesome just to push your limits.”

The total amount raised from the fundraising marathon was more than Neudorf expected. In fact it was double what he had hoped for.

“I raised $4,441. I’m really pleased about it - I was expecting about $2,000.”

Neudorf said he received much support during his marathon run on Saturday, April 27.

“I had a few people, as I passed by they’d come out and say words of encouragement and that really helped,” he said. “I also had a few friends running with me, some biking beside me and a lot of relatives biking and running beside me too.”

Having accomplished such a feat and raising enough funds to cover all costs and expenses related to his trip to Nepal is a great feeling and a blessing said Neudorf. In addition, the dedication, the time and hard work he put into his first marathon was all worth it in the end.

“It feels awesome. Just knowing that that four hours of hard work ultimately led me to be able to go across the world and tell people of Jesus and the hope that they can have in him,” he said.

Neudorf will be leaving for Nepal on June 15 as part of a group with Global Expeditions.
