Moffatt & Powell RONA opens new location

A new location for a local business means better service and a wider selection of products for Tillsonburg customers.

Moffatt & Powell RONA recently opened its doors to their new location, at #268 Tillson Avenue on Monday, March 18, 2013.

“It’s a big transition for everybody because it’s a lot bigger store with a lot better selection,” said Roger Bois-Grossiant, branch manager for Moffatt & Powell RONA. “We’re mostly a contractor base store and we’re still going to focus on our contractor base customers but we’re going to definitely grow in the retail side for the general public too. That’s basically the reason for the expansion.”

Over the past year, renovations to the storage warehouse building - down the street from the former location, were completed in order to accommodate the new store and approximately 6 to10 new employees.

Since 2010, the store has had an affiliation with RONA noted Bois-Grossiant, a popular building and supplies store in Canada, but is still a privately owned company in Tillsonburg.

“There’s more selection and stock and being affiliated with RONA, there’s definitely a lot more product we can get,” he said. “Even if we don’t carry it in the store, we can get a lot of things.”

Moffatt & Powell RONA now carries a variety of home building and renovation products including, lumber, flooring materials, lighting, tools, air conditioners, fans, barbecues, paints, drywall and insulation, as well as items needed for kitchen and bath areas, outdoor fences, decks and windows.

With the new building and expansion comes a new logo as well noted Bois-Grossiant, a ‘contractors first’ approach that is quite popular with RONA stores across the country.

“We have a separate entrance for the contractors, a separate desk for the contractors to make their jobs easier and quicker,” he added referring to the positive feedback he’s received about the new store, from both contractors and members of the public over the past week.

“It’s definitely been a lot busier than what we’re used to. The store is larger than the old location, there’s a lot more product variety and we’ve already seen some retail traffic on top of our existing contractor traffic,” said Bois-Grossiant. “With the selection, it’s going to be a lot better for everybody.”

The new location will have their official grand opening the weekend of April 12 – 14, 2013, and Bois-Grossiant invites all Tillsonburg residents to drop by to see the new building, new product and to take advantage of the springtime sales.

“There’s going to be some specials, they’re working on the flyer right now as we speak,” said Bois-Grossiant. “We’re also going to have a bunch of vendors here, especially on Friday and Saturday – those are going to be the two biggest days. And they’re the experts in their line and product, so if anybody’s got any questions, that would be the best time to come.”
