Week 17

(End of Regular Season)

Tuesday, Feb. 26

Corey’s Restaurant 8, Poultry Specialties 6

Our 1st game of the week featured a defensive battle in the B Division. Corey’s took an early stranglehold jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st 10 minutes of the half, Poultry did make a valiant 2nd half comeback but it was just too much to overcome.

Jason Prno and Mike Mesquita got hat tricks for Corey’s with singles by Jason Martins and Aidan Boyle. Poultry got four from Marijn Noorland and the single by Cayla Smith. Corey’s had an own goal.

Computer Station 15, Courtland PM 1

Our 2nd game was the tilted floor score of the week as Computer just couldn’t miss, pounding out to an 8-1 1st half lead. They showed little mercy in the 2nd as Csanad Kocsis and Justin Young both banged home seven apiece. Molson Page added the single. Goalie Nick Mathews was stingy and with only one marker let in, he sealed Top Goalie honours for the league. Courtland’s only goal came from Aalt Pelleboer.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

Signshop 7, Pettman’s Auctioneering 3

As the teams jockey for playoff position, it was Signshop prevailing over the Auction crew and capturing that 5th spot. They jumped out to an early lead and were up 4-1 at the half.

Leading the way for Signshop were Cody Kraushaar and Stephen DeGroote with two apiece, followed by singles from Terry Pittao, Jamie Lamont and Jill Yarmie. Auction got a double from Mac Robinson and the single by Kris Foreman.

Verne’s Carpet One 9, DoneRight Landscaping 7

Our 2nd feature matchup was a barnburner of a game with Verne’s taking an early 4-1 lead. The 2nd half saw DoneRight mount the comeback but just ran out of time. Verne’s big gunner was Ryan Fitch with five 2nd half markers, with two each from Thomas Cross and Nolan Ambrus. DoneRight got a hat tricks from Donnie Evanitski and Nathan Matos with Max Evanitski netting the single.

Thursday, Feb. 28

Courtland PM 7, Tillson Pizza 5

Courtland got back on track after that early week bombardment with an impressive victory over a tough Pizza squad. They deadlocked at 3-3 at the half before stepping up a notch to seal the deal. Leading the Courtland attack were Aalt Pelleboer, Dan Oliveira and Alessandro Palermo with two and a single from Nik Palermo. Pizza got two apiece from Chris Coldham and goalie Nate Beard with a single by Cole Vuylsteke.

Danbrook Auto 8, Verne’s Carpet One 7

Our barnburner of the week game was a beauty and it featured two top teams battling it out for that playoff position. The Auto crew made an amazing 2nd half come back after trailing 5-3 at the break. Danbrook’s scoring machine Jen Pathy got two late strikes to capture the winning flag. Teammate Rudi Vanittersum led the way with three, followed by a pair from Nichole Danbrook and single by goalie Tyler Danbrook. Verne’s got two apiece from Ryan Fitch and Thomas Cross with singles by Nolan Ambrus, Mike and Joe Oliveira. As it turned out we had three teams tied for that 2nd spot so it goes to a head-to-head points total.

Playoff positions are determined by points… ties, head-to-head. Three-way ties are determined by head-to-head against each team in tied position, total points.
