The Tillsonburg Town Centre Mall was the fourth inanimate object involved in a motor-vehicle collision originating along Broadway Thursday morning just after 11:15 a.m.

According to Oxford OPP Const. Stacey Culbert, a black Toyota Avalon entered Broadway, westbound from Washington Grand at a controlled intersection, colliding with a southbound tractor-trailer.

The Avalon continued onward to a secondary collision with an unattended parked red Dodge Charger. Those two vehicles continued up onto the sidewalk, eventually colliding with the rear portion of the Town Centre Mall’s Northern Reflections outlet.

Damage was visible to both vehicles and the mall itself.

The driver of the Avalon was taken to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons, said Culbert. The driver of the transport truck was not injured, and remained at the scene.

The Northern Reflections retail outlet was closed temporarily due to the damage inflicted. Both Town Centre Mall and Town of Tillsonburg staff were on site, as were Oxford EMS personnel and members of the Tillsonburg Fire Service. Tillsonburg firefighters checked out both the exterior of the mall, and interior locations to ensure the situation was safe, following reports of gas fumes.

According to Culbert, the investigation is ongoing and updates will be forthcoming.
